Add my own private notes

I’m not sure if this is a feature I just can’t figure out, but I want to be able to add notes to a recipe I’ve made, and see them when I open that recipe again (without clicking into “edit recipe”). I see I can rate/comment, but I assume that’s public? If I add a note by clicking in to edit a recipe, can someone see that comment? I just want to keep silly notes for myself!
